Keep the color paste container dry, at room temperature and stored upright.

Never mix the paste with a stick previously contaminated by polyester, gelcoat or styrene because the color paste will be unusable within couple of months. Always use a clean stirring stick.

Be sure to test the color pastes’ appropriateness for your usage environment. If you cannot find adequate information in this catalog, please contact our Help and Support center. Also the polyester and gelcoat must be suitable for the usage environment.

Write the color code over the lid of the can before use.

Do not mix the color paste directly into polyester or gelcoat. First mix the required amount of color paste into small amount of polyester or gelcoat then add this mixture into all polyester/gelcoat.

Use minimal levels of opaque color paste in order to keep gelcoats’ or polyesters’ properties. Transparent colors must be used at the maximum level in order to maintain desired color.

Mix well before use.

If you are going to create an intermediate color, please read the specifications of the color pastes which you will use.

You must use a minimal level of accelerator and catalyst in order to keep the color pastes’ original color.

When using organic and inorganic colors, this mixture tends to have pigment flooding and floating problems due to differences in densities.

Intermediate colored gelcoats made from organic and inorganic color paste mixtures should be applied with a spray gun. Take care to avoid dripping, dragging and heaping as this can result in color change.

You can also use the Poliya T-90-50 additive to prevent this problem.

The CIE ΔE*, is defined as a measurement of color difference, namely the Euclidean distance of the straight line between two colors that are expresses by the Lab coordinates (see color space at the right).

Values of original color = L1, a1, b1
Values of prepared color = L2, a2, b2

ΔE²= (L1-L2)² + (a1-a2)² + (b1-b2)²

CIE Lab system is perceptually uniform color space. The Euclidean distance between two colors in this space would bea perceptually uniform measure for color difference.

If this number ΔE(Delta E) is smaller, the original color and the sample are close to each other, vice versa if this number is greater than one than the color difference between original and the sample is visible with naked eye.

The ΔE* is calculated as seen in the formula above.
